2019 Press Release: Introducing The World's First Climate-Positive Trainer Brand

Elliott Footwear: The World's First Climate-Positive Sneaker

Elliott Footwear has recently emerged as a new player in the footwear industry, but with a very distinct mission - to create climate-positive sneakers. Their unique approach to sustainability is what sets them apart from the rest, and their co-founder, Sam, was more than happy to share their journey in an interview.

Founded by Lars Jorgensen and Mikkel Bang, Elliott Footwear started with a simple idea - to create clean and stylish footwear inspired by Scandinavian design. From the beginning, they were aware of the environmental impact that the footwear industry has on the planet. The industry generates millions of pairs of sneakers each year, most of which end up in landfills. To avoid this, they decided to have a small-scale production where they create and sell-out their trainers.

Their initial collection featured a couple of recycled canvas options, as well as vegan leather and vegan suede. But what they believe is their unique selling point is their "circular economy model", which allows customers to send back their much-loved used pair of Elliotts to be recycled and created into new pairs.

Sam explained that creating a new pair of shoes generates 200kg CO2, which multiplies by five when other factors such as shipping, manufacturing, research, and development are considered. This led them to focus on their three P's of sustainability: People, Planet, and Profit. They want to ensure that they are not only an organization that cares about the planet but also about the people behind the brand. Sam passionately talked about how they want their shoes to have a positive impact on the environment and ensure everyone is rewarded, with diversity being a key component of their values.

Elliott Footwear manufactures their shoes in Barcelona, a decision made after finding the right partner who shares their values and respects their DNS. This has allowed them to reduce their CO2 emissions and get closer to achieving their environmental goals. They ship their products from there, avoiding the additional environmental impact of shipping products from further afield.

Sam believes that the fashion industry needs to focus more on the climate agenda. He is glad to see that there is a growing community fighting for the environment, and how it is very important to reach out to a different audience to make them aware of this problem. Elliott's approach is to use their platform to spread this message.

Elliott Footwear is a brand that is making a positive impact on the planet, and their unique approach to sustainability is commendable. Their focus on people, planet, and profit is a great example of how businesses can be successful while still caring about the environment and the people behind the brand. With their circular economy model, they are reducing waste and creating a more sustainable future. Their journey is inspiring, and it will be exciting to see how they continue to innovate and inspire others to make a positive impact on the planet.
